Plumbing 1
This competency-based course is the first in a sequence of two designed for plumbing. It provides students with project-based experiences in basic plumbing according to the Uniform Plumbing Code and the Los Angeles Plumbing Code requirements. Technical instruction includes an orientation, workplace safety rules and regulations, resource management, trade mathematics, and employability skills. Emphasis is placed on the proper selection and use of plumbing materials (including sustainable and green products) and tools, pipefitting techniques, components of the sanitary drainage, vent and storm water drainage systems, the sizing techniques for sanitary drainage and vent piping, and plumbing traps.
Plumbing 2
This competency-based course is the second in a sequence of two designed for plumbing. It provides students with project-based experiences in basic plumbing according to the Uniform Plumbing Code and the Los Angeles Plumbing Code requirements. Technical instruction includes an introduction, and reviews of workplace safety rules and regulations, resource management, trade mathematics, and employability skills. Emphasis is placed on the sizing techniques for water supply piping, water supply protection, proper selection and use of fixtures and appliances, testing and inspection techniques, and the basic procedures for plumbing a house. Basic entrepreneurial skills and the use of sustainable and green materials and technology are also covered in the instruction.
